Hello, this is BRIGHT&BREEZY.

Today, I'd like to share the story of how I founded my brand.

 

It all started when my partner told me, "I don't want a diamond engagement ring."

She felt uncomfortable with the idea of using diamonds for a wedding blessing, given that their mining and journey to people's fingers consume vast amounts of forest and water resources, and can sometimes be linked to unfair labor practices. She also expressed that she didn't want to spend too much money on a ring.

So, she was researching pearl and gold rings.

Around that time, during an overseas exhibition for work, I first learned about "lab-grown diamonds." I suggested this new option to her, as they are more environmentally friendly than mined diamonds and created in a safe, laboratory-controlled environment. She loved the gift, and since lab-grown diamonds were more affordable than natural diamonds, we had money left over from the "wedding preparation fund" I had set aside for the proposal. With that extra budget, we were able to go diving and travel abroad together.

 

The engagement ring made with lab-grown diamonds sparkled more than I imagined, and I discovered it could be enjoyed for everyday wear too.
Further research revealed that such wonderful rings are a standard choice overseas, with data showing 46% of couples in the US opting for them. However, in Japan, their adoption is still lagging.

Despite being environmentally friendly, affordable, and high-quality, there's a common narrative that lab-grown diamonds are "artificial" or "fake," which is a great shame.
Furthermore, due to the long-standing industry structure, there was a lack of transparency in distribution and pricing.

To address this situation, I set two missions:
・To transform the jewelry industry into a sustainable and transparently priced one.
・To aim for improved quality and price transparency, despite being sustainable.
I am committed to challenging and changing the industry structure for the better.

While exploring the launch of the brand, I met Akane, a jewelry designer and model maker with 15 years of industry experience.

The brand was launched with Akane's design sense and technical skill, honed through designing for major brands, and myself, Shudai, from the web industry and managing a company.
And, of course, with my partner, who is discerning about jewelry.
